All mothers will receive childcare benefits for children up to 2 years of age

In order to improve the demographic situation, from January 1, 2023, all mothers under the age of 2, including non-working mothers, will receive child care benefits, not only rural residents, as per the current regulation, but also urban residents.

Carer’s Allowance will also be available to mothers who are working but decide not to take up their Carer’s Leave entitlement and wish to return to work.

Until now, according to the current regulation, if an employed parent is not on child care leave, they did not receive care allowance. From now on, if a parent goes to work before the child is 2 years old, the state will still pay them a care allowance, at a higher rate than if they stayed at home. With this change, the state is trying to promote the parent’s return to work.

For children born in 2023, a non-working parent or a parent on care leave will receive 31,600 AMD, and a working parent who is not on care leave will receive 37,500 AMD. The allowance for a rural parent on care leave will be AMD 69,100.

The changes apply to children born after January 1, 2023.

Let’s remind that, according to the law, fathers can also apply for child care benefits.

Before the child turns 1, the parent can apply for child care allowance and will be paid back for the previous months. If more than 1 child is born in the family, the care allowance is paid for each child separately.
