On January 20, the “First International Congress of Influential Women” was launched in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tehran, which was attended by Anna Hakobyan, the Armenian Prime Minister’s wife, Anahit Avanesyan, the Minister of Health, and Stella Sarukhanyan, the program coordinator of the “Green Path” NGO.
More than 300 influential women from China, Australia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Pakistan, Cameroon, Serbia, Armenia, Sweden, Bulgaria, South Africa, Syria, Lebanon and Russia are participating in the forum. It is held at three levels: cultural figures, scientists and celebrities, ministers and first ladies, reports the Iranian IRNA agency.
In the first part of the conference, all participating first ladies and high-ranking female officials spoke, including the initiator of the conference, represented by the first lady of Iran, Jamile Sadat Alamolhoda. In her speech, the first lady of Iran emphasized that the goal of the congress and women is not to compete with men, but to cooperate. According to her, as a result of that cooperation, the “First International Congress of Influential Women” is being held.
Dr. Alamolhoda stated that their goal is to fight against discrimination, and the main desire is to establish justice, peace, friendship and morality in the world.
Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan also gave a speech during the conference. She presented the level of presence of women in Armenia in various fields: in parliament, executive and judicial power, law enforcement system, Armed Forces, etc.
Anna Hakobyan also referred to the “Women for Peace” campaign that she initiated in 2018, which aims to fight against wars, unite and raise the voice of women.
Presenting the problems facing Armenia, she spoke about the severe consequences of the 44-day war, thousands of martyrs, missing persons, Armenian prisoners kept in Azerbaijan to this day, their torture and unacceptable treatment by the Armenian military, Azerbaijan’s aggression and non-stop attacks on the sovereign territories of Armenia. She also referred to the humanitarian situation in Artsakh caused by the blockade of the Lachin Corridor, noting that Azerbaijan closed the only life road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia under the false environmental pretext, depriving 120,000 Armenians of health, education and basic living conditions. For more than a month, children have been deprived of their parents, women have been deprived of their husbands, Anna Hakobyan said in her speech, noting that all this is aimed at ethnically cleansing the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh. And in order to prevent all of this, according to the Prime Minister’s wife, the addressed and condemning reaction of the entire international community is necessary.
Anna Hakobyan offered the present and all the women of the world to join the campaign to establish peace and called for unity.
