The Princess of Startups

The interlocutor of WomenNet.am is 17-year-old Teresa Tumanyan, who has achieved significant success in the field of information technologies thanks to “Armat” engineering laboratory.

One of the first practical steps in the field of education in recent years has been the introduction of information technology to the school, which has attracted many children, adolescents and girls who receive education in the “Armat” Engineering Laboratory or Startup Club. Children aged 10-18 actively participate in interactive extracurricular courses, interesting competitions, innovation camps and get acquainted with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. They are given the opportunity to discover their potential, to develop, build, test, improve their own solutions, make new friends and start startups together.

17-year-old Teresa Tumanyan, who has achieved significant success in this field, was born and raised in Ashtarak, attended a local high school, and graduated with honors. She is currently a first-year student at the Armenian-French University, studying at the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics.

Her success was greatly facilitated by her parents and computer science teacher, whose advice gave the green light to Teresa’s self-improvement. Participation in the group led by the teacher increases the interest in the IT field, and the prizes won as a result of participating in many Olympiads and competitions further inspire Theresa in her professional orientation.

Apart from programming, Teresa is not indifferent to foreign languages either. She reads professional literature and information related to the IT field not only in Armenian, which is her main language, but also in English, she has learned Italian herself, and today she is also learning French.

Tereza tells with special enthusiasm about her victory as a result of participating in the “Technovation Armenia” contest. According to her, Technovation is the largest technology entrepreneurship competition in the world for girls. The goal of the Technovation program is to encourage young girls to become innovators and leaders in their communities, to use their knowledge to solve the social problems of their communities through entrepreneurship, and to develop a mobile application to solve them.

The next event uniting startups and investors, in which Teresa Tumanyan again participated, was the Sean Startup Summit 2018 organized in 2018.

In 2019-2020 within the framework of the Startup Club implemented by the Startup Armenia Foundation, Teresa founded the Bright Startup, which was an innovative toolkit for psychologists and therapists working with children with special needs. Thanks to the Startup Club sessions, together with the team, she developed and presented the idea at the Startup Club Demo Day final event.
