October 11 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Day of the Girl Child. This year's theme is Expanding Girls' Leadership Opportunities. On the occasion of the day, the United Nations calls for investments in order to realize the rights of girls and to reveal their potential, expressing the belief that the leadership of women and girls in shaping the priorities of public policy, business, and science is a guarantee of countries' well-being and a fairer future.
The " New Generation Girls" PI campaign implemented by WomenNet.am with the support of the United Nations Population Fund is in line with the theme of the Day of the Girl Child. The purpose of the campaign is to present to the public the stories of Armenian and Artsakh girls who have achieved success in various fields and thereby contribute to the overcoming of stereotypes in public perceptions that hinder the progress of girls and to valorize the role of girls in the country's development processes.
